國際貨幣基金組織 (IMF) 週四 (11 日) 加入蘇格蘭獨立公民投票的輿論戰局，警告若下週支持獨立的一方勝利，恐怕會掀起市場動盪。

IMF 在聲明中表示，若蘇格蘭公投結果贊成脫離英國獨立，短期內很可能會製造「不確定性」，因為政治人物得想辦法解決一些「複雜」的議題，尤其是獨立後的蘇格蘭會使用哪種貨幣。至於長期而言，蘇格蘭經濟將受到怎樣的衝擊，則視公投後各方協商出的細節而定。

IMF 發言人莫瑞 (William Murray) 在記者會上，不願評論蘇格蘭獨立是否會重創英國經濟，僅表示主要會引發的立即效應，很可能是蘇格蘭若轉換到新的貨幣、金融及財政框架下伴隨的不確定性。而這層不確定性，短期內則可能激起金融市場的負面反應。

不過莫瑞補充，長期而言蘇格蘭獨立會有哪些效應，則視公投後協商過程作出的決議而定，IMF 不願妄加猜測。
