象徵中亞國家塔吉克永恆獨立的一株樹木宣告枯萎死亡。當地人說，這株從美國進口，上刻拉丁文「永生」字樣的紅杉，由總統拉蒙親自栽種在首都杜尚貝。一般而言，這種紅杉最長可活三千年，但它只短暫活了五十年。當地人表示它是脫水死亡。2004年，拉蒙準備為它揭幕的前一天，它即曾突然倒塌，似在預告它的後來噩運。（英國廣播公司）
